Wesdome appoints COO

Canadian miner Wesdome Gold Mines on Monday appointed Philip Ng as COO with immediate effect.
Ng is a professional engineer in Ontario who had worked in the mining industry for more than 20 years, being previously employed as COO for Queenston, as well as senior VP of mining operations for Saskatchewan-based narrow-vein gold producer Claude Resources.
Ng had also previously worked with significant mining companies such as INCO as chief mining engineer at the Coleman McCreedy East mine, in Sudbury, and Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting as rock mechanic specialist/mine planner and mining engineer.
"Ng brings over twenty years of technical, operational and management experience to Wesdome with substantial experience in narrow-vein mining.  Philip's experience will be of great value to us going forward," Wesdome president Donovan Pollitt said.
Wesdome in June temporary suspended contract mining at the Mishi openpit mine, located near Wawa, northern Ontario, as a considerable stockpile of ore grew at the nearby Eagle River mill. The company said it was fast-tracking a multi-pronged upgrade to its Eagle River milling facility, targeting a 66% increase over current rates to 1 000 t/d to deal with the growing supply of ore from the Mishi mine.
