The mission of the National Waterways Conference is to effect common sense policies and programs, recognizing the public value of our Nation’s water resources and their contribution to public safety, a competitive economy, national security, environmental quality and energy conservation.

The Ralated Article: Open House and Public Meetings on Proposed Port Ambrose Deepwater LNG Port

On June 14, 2013, Liberty Natural Gas, LLC submitted an application to the Maritime Administration, part of the Department of Transportation, for permission to build an offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) deepwater port facility. The port would be located approximately 17 nautical miles southeast of Jones Beach, NY and 24 nautical miles east of Long Branch, NJ. In 2011, New Jersey Governor Christie vetoed an earlier application that would have located the port closer to the New Jersey shoreline, citing “unacceptable risks to the State’s residents, natural resources, economy, and security.” That same port is now proposed off New York’s coast.
